Vườn Hoan Hỷ
Nandanasutta

Như vậy tôi nghe.
Evaṁ me sutaṁ
So I have heard.

Một thời Thế Tôn trú ở Sāvatthi (Xá-vệ), Jetavana (Thắng Lâm), tại vườn ông Anāthapiṇḍika (Cấp Cô Ðộc).
ekaṁ samayaṁ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṁ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme.
At one time the Buddha was staying near Sāvatthī in Jeta’s Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika’s monastery.

Tại đấy, Thế Tôn gọi các Tỷ-kheo: “Này các Tỷ-kheo”
Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi: “bhikkhavo”ti.
There the Buddha addressed the mendicants, “Mendicants!”

“Thưa vâng, bạch Thế Tôn”. Các Tỷ-kheo ấy vâng đáp Thế Tôn.
“Bhadante”ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṁ.
“Venerable sir,” they replied.

Thế Tôn nói như sau:
Bhagavā etadavoca:
The Buddha said this:

“Thuở xưa, này các Tỷ-kheo, có vị Thiên thuộc cõi trời Ba mươi ba, với chúng Thiên nữ vây quanh, du hí ở vườn Hoan Hỷ, thọ hưởng năm thiên dục công đức. Bây giờ, vị Thiên ấy nói lên bài kệ này:
“Bhūtapubbaṁ, bhikkhave, aññatarā tāvatiṁsakāyikā devatā nandane vane accharāsaṅghaparivutā dibbehi pañcahi kāmaguṇehi samappitā samaṅgībhūtā paricārayamānā tāyaṁ velāyaṁ imaṁ gāthaṁ abhāsi:
“Once upon a time, mendicants, a certain deity of the company of the Thirty-Three was amusing themselves in the Garden of Delight, escorted by a band of nymphs, and supplied and provided with the five kinds of heavenly sensual stimulation. On that occasion they recited this verse:

‘Chúng không biết đến lạc,
Nếu không thấy Hoan Hỷ,
Chỗ trú cả Trời, Người,
Cõi ba mươi lừng danh.’
‘Na te sukhaṁ pajānanti,
ye na passanti nandanaṁ;
Āvāsaṁ naradevānaṁ,
tidasānaṁ yasassinan’ti.
‘They don’t know pleasure
who don’t see the Garden of Delight!
It’s the abode of lordly gods,
the glorious host of Thirty!’

Ðược nghe nói vậy, này các Tỷ-kheo, một vị Thiên khác đáp vị Thiên ấy với bài kệ:
Evaṁ vutte, bhikkhave, aññatarā devatā taṁ devataṁ gāthāya paccabhāsi:
When they had spoken, another deity replied with this verse:

‘Kẻ ngu, sao không biết,
Vị Ứng cúng đã nói:
“Mọi hành là vô thường,
Tự tánh phải sanh diệt,
Sau khi sanh, chúng diệt,
Nhiếp chúng là an lạc.’”
‘Na tvaṁ bāle pajānāsi,
yathā arahataṁ vaco;
Aniccā sabbasaṅkhārā, 
uppādavayadhammino;
Uppajjitvā nirujjhanti,
tesaṁ vūpasamo sukho’”ti.
‘Fool, don’t you understand
the saying of the perfected ones:
All conditions are impermanent,
their nature is to rise and fall;
having arisen, they cease;
their stilling is true bliss.’”
