Ở Sāvatthi.
Sāvatthinidānaṁ.
At Sāvatthī.

Ðứng một bên, vị Thiên ấy nói lên bài kệ này trước mặt Thế Tôn:
Ekamantaṁ ṭhitā kho sā devatā bhagavato santike imaṁ gāthaṁ abhāsi:
Standing to one side, that deity recited this verse in the Buddha’s presence:

“Như kiếm đã chạm da,
Như lửa cháy trên đầu,
Tỷ-kheo hãy chánh niệm,
Xuất gia bỏ ái dục.”
“Sattiyā viya omaṭṭho,
ḍayhamānova matthake;
Kāmarāgappahānāya,
sato bhikkhu paribbaje”ti.
“Like they’re struck by a sword,
like their head was on fire,
a mendicant, mindful, should go forth,
to give up sensual desire.”

(Thế Tôn):
“Như kiếm đã chạm da,
Như lửa cháy trên đầu,
Tỷ-kheo hãy chánh niệm,
Xuất gia bỏ thân kiến.”
“Sattiyā viya omaṭṭho,
ḍayhamānova matthake;
Sakkāyadiṭṭhippahānāya,
sato bhikkhu paribbaje”ti.
“Like they’re struck by a sword,
like their head was on fire,
a mendicant, mindful, should go forth,
to give up identity view.”
