Nandivisāla
Nandivisālasutta

Ðứng một bên, Thiên tử Nandivisàla nói lên bài kệ với Thế Tôn:
Ekamantaṁ ṭhito kho nandivisālo devaputto bhagavantaṁ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi:
Standing to one side, the god Nandivisāla addressed the Buddha in verse:

“Bốn bánh xe chín cửa,
Ðầy uế, hệ lụy tham,
Chìm đắm trong bùn nhơ,
Ôi! Thưa bậc Ðại Hùng,
Sanh thú Ngài như vậy,
Tương lai sẽ thế nào?”
“Catucakkaṁ navadvāraṁ,
puṇṇaṁ lobhena saṁyutaṁ;
Paṅkajātaṁ mahāvīra,
kathaṁ yātrā bhavissatī”ti.
“Four are its wheels, and nine its doors;
it’s stuffed full, bound with greed,
and born from a bog.
Great hero, how am I supposed to live like this?”

(Thế Tôn):
“Cắt hỷ và buộc ràng,
Dục tham và tà ác,
Ái căn được đoạn tận,
Sanh thú sẽ như vậy.”
“Chetvā naddhiṁ varattañca,
icchālobhañca pāpakaṁ;
Samūlaṁ taṇhamabbuyha,
evaṁ yātrā bhavissatī”ti.
“Having cut the strap and harness—
wicked desire and greed—
and having plucked out craving, root and all:
that’s how you’re supposed to live like this.”
